• Physical activities- Physical activity plays a major role in weight management programs. Most obese patients can lead a sedentary lifestyle. And their physical activities are very less or sometimes they don’t follow or continue this pattern regularly. Exercise is extremely beneficial in weight management because it will increase basal metabolic rate, reduce fat deposits and also help to increase the fluid intake of individuals. The government also encourages physical activity programs. They design pedestrian paths in school, college, and park as well to make the population more active and it will also help them to prevent obesity, cardiac disease, and pulmonary diseases as well. For a Normal person, 40 to 45 minutes of physical activity is enough for a day it may include cycling, swimming, gymming yoga, or stretch exercises.
• Stress management:- Stress management plays a very important role in weight management. The level of the stress hormone cortisol is rise during tension and because of this, it can turn overeating into a habit. So instead of healthy food, we are more like to have unhealthy food products like cookies, fried food, sugary products, etc. That’s why they also called it ‘comfort food’. Sweeteners and fried food are real culprits because everyone loves to have easy-to-make food.
So basically more stress= more cortisol= high appetite for unhealthy food= more weight gain
To maintain your stress level you should try a brisk walk, meditation, breathing exercises, or yoga as well.
• Weight loss surgery:- As we all know bariatric surgery is a surgical intervention to treat obesity. Bariatric surgery is advised for those patients whose BMI is greater than 40. Bariatric surgery is designed to alter or interrupt the digestion process so that calories and nutrition of food are not absorbed properly. And it will decrease their risk of obesity and disorders.
